Iowa announces FREE general public parking and FREE tickets for UI Students
Women’s Basketball hosts #14 Rutgers in a battle for the Big Ten top spot Wednesday
Men’s basketball battles No. 6 Michigan State Thursday
IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will host two top-25 basketball games this week as fans plan to STORM Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The events will feature free student admission to the men’s game versus Michigan State Thursday night, and free public parking Thursday and Wednesday, when the Hawkeye women host Rutgers.
The STORM Carver promotion includes free tickets for UI students to Thursday’s Michigan State men’s game. UI students can log onto hawkeyesports.com to claim one of 1,000 reserved seats. Students can either download mobile tickets or print their ticket at home. Students will also be able to purchase at $10 guest ticket for a non-UI student.
UI students receive free admission to all women’s basketball games with a valid student ID. Adult tickets to Wednesday’s contest are $12. Admission is free for children 18 and younger.
On Wednesday, at 7 p.m., the Hawkeye women, ranked 17th nationally and featuring Player of the Year candidate Megan Gustafson, host No. 14 Rutgers and former Iowa coach C. Vivian Stringer. Rutgers (7-0) leads the Big Ten race, while the Hawkeyes are tied for second (5-2).
Free general public parking is available each night. Donor parking for lots closest to Carver-Hawkeye Arena remain for public parking pass holders.
Iowa is led by National Player of the Year candidate Megan Gustafson. Gustafson was named the Big Ten Player of the Week for the eighth time this season on Monday. She has 18 weekly conference honors in her career – the second-most in the history of Big Ten women’s basketball.
The Hawkeyes, who are 9-0 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena this season, have six remaining home games, including Wednesday’s contest against Rutgers.
The No. 19 Hawkeye men, who have won seven straight home games, will battle No. 6 Michigan State Thursday. The top-25 contest will be nationally televised on FS1 (6 p.m.), with Tim Brando and Bill Raftery on the call.
The Hawkeye basketball student shuttle will begin running Thursday at 4:15 p.m. Details for the free ride to and from the game are listed below with maps available here:
