IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa women’s rowing team has signed three standouts — Emma Mask, Emma Dabinett, and Mary Wright — for the 2020 season, UI head coach Andrew Carter announced Wednesday.
Emma Mask
Bettendorf, Iowa | Pleasant Valley High School | Y Quad City Rowing Club
“I’ve been watching Emma’s rowing for the past couple of years and I couldn’t be more pleased to have her join us in 2020. Her record rowing at Quad Cities is terrific and I have such great confidence in the training she’s received from her coach there, Dr. Sharis. Having gotten to know her and her family, Emma is definitely a Hawkeye so she’s going to do great things here.” – Coach Carter
Emma Dabinett
Bracknell, England | Garth Hill College | Marlow Rowing Club
“Emma will be bringing an impressive list of accomplishments from both Marlow Rowing Club and the GB Junior Team when she arrives next August. She’s also bringing an infectious personality and sense of humor that will make her fit in perfectly with this team. It was clear from watching Emma interact with the women during her visit that she was already part of the group. Her comfort here combined with her capability are great ingredients to a successful collegiate career as a Hawkeye.” – Coach Carter
Mary Wright
Walsall, England | The Henley College | Leander Club
“Mary is spending this year training toward representing Great Britain next summer so I know she will be coming to Iowa ready to jump in with us. She’s rowing at one of England’s premier clubs in Leander so she’s in an incredible training environment with world class coaches and athletes. I’m really looking forward to welcoming her energy, skill, and sense of humor to our program next August. All of those things are sure to make positive contributions to our team.” – Coach Carter
