IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa goalkeeper Macy Enneking has been named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The Hilliard, Ohio, native earned the distinction after recording her first career shutout in her first career start March 21 at Maryland. Enneking came up with three second half saves in helping Iowa to the 1-0 victory – their first of the year. She faced nine shots over 97:03 minutes.
Enneking made her collegiate debut at Rutgers on March 18, making three saves in 45 minutes in the second half. In two games, Enneking played 142:03 minutes of shutout soccer in goal.
The distinction is Enneking’s first league honor. She shares the designation with Michigan’s Sammi Woods.
The Hawkeyes return to action Thursday, hosting Penn State at 2 p.m. (CT) at the Iowa Soccer Complex.
