CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s golf team holds a nine-shot lead after the first two rounds at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course. The team shot an opening round 300, followed by a second round 301, for a total of 601 (+25) on a cold and rainy Iowa day.
Freshman Klara Wildhaber currently sits in third and three shots back of the leader after her 149 (+5) day. Sophomore Morgan Goldstein holds a tie for fourth after shooting a 150 (+6), and Lea Zeitler is in sixth after a 151 (+7) day. Jacque Galloway rounds out the Hawkeyes in the top ten as she sits in a tie for seventh at 153 (+9).
Junior Manuela Lizarazu and sophomore Lilly Gentzkow sit in 19th and 23rd after they shot 157 (+13) and 161 (+17). Those six golfers are competing for Iowa in the team tournament which has a play-six keep-four scores format this weekend.
Iowa has four golfers competing as individuals at Pheasant Ridge. Seniors Sarah Overton and Brett Permann, as well as junior Dana Lerner all share a tie for 13th after they all shot a +12 (156) in the first two rounds. Stephanie Herzog, the senior from Minnesota, shot a 166 (+22) to sit in 31st.
