IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa field hockey team will play nine regular season games at Grant Field as part of its 2021 fall schedule, head coach Lisa Cellucci announced Monday.
The Hawkeyes will host Michigan, North Carolina, and Wake Forest for the 2021 Big Ten/ACC Challenge to kick off the fall season.
Schedule Highlights
- The 17-game schedule features four games against NCAA Tournament teams from last season: defending National Champion North Carolina (Aug. 29), Louisville (Sept. 19), national runner-up Michigan (Oct. 15), and Northwestern (Oct. 29). Three of the four games against 2021 Spring NCAA Tournament qualifiers will be on the Hawkeyes’ home pitch.
- The season will begin in Iowa City, Iowa, at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on August 27-29. The Hawkeyes will face Wake Forest and North Carolina. In 2018 and 2019, Iowa went 1-1 at the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
- Iowa’s nine-game home slate features Wake Forest (Aug. 27), North Carolina (Aug. 29), Ohio (Sept. 10), St. Louis (Sept. 12), Penn State (Sept. 24 and 26), Michigan (Oct. 15), Ohio State (Oct. 17), and Northwestern (Oct. 29).
- Postseason play begins with the Big Ten Tournament on November 4-7, hosted by Rutgers in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament are November 12-14.
