United States Olympic Wrestling Information

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The United States Olympic Wrestling team begins competition Saturday, July 31 at 9 p.m. (CT).

Former Iowa national champion Bill Zadick is in his fifth year leading Team USA’s men’s freestyle program. He has coached six different athletes to eight World titles and led the United States to a world team title in 2017. Zadick won the 142-pound NCAA title while wrestling for the Hawkeye in 1996.

Former Hawkeye All-American Thomas Gilman is Team USA’s men’s freestyle representative at 57 kg. Gilman was a three-time All-American at Iowa from 2015-17 and won a Big Ten championhip in 2017 at 125 pounds. He was a silver medalist at the 2017 UWW World Championships and won a gold medal at the UWW World Cup in 2018. He is the second straight Hawkeye to represent Team USA at 57 kg at the Olympic Games. Daniel Dennis was the U.S. representative in 2016 at the Rio Olympics.
