DEBRECEN, Hungary — University of Iowa women’s basketball sophomore Caitlin Clark and Team USA defeated Hungary, 75-42, on Saturday, advancing to the 2021 FIBA Women’s U19 World Cup finals on Sunday.
Clark went 4-for-7 from 3-point range and scored 11 of her 14 points in the third quarter against Hungary. She tallied two rebounds and two assists, and added a steal and a block.
Team USA heads into the finals on Sunday, Aug. 14 at 1:30 p.m. (CT) against Australia. The red, white, and blue have won seven of the last eight FIBA Women’s U19 World Cup gold medals dating back to 2005, while Australia has won one gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
