SAN DIEGO, California — University of Iowa women’s tennis All-American Alexa Noel is set to begin ITA Fall National Championship play on Thursday at the Barnes Tennis Center. Noel is one of the nation’s top 32 collegiate singles players and one of three 2021 All-American semifinalists.
Noel qualified by virtue of being a finalist at the All-American Tournament last month. The sophomore is the first player in program history to compete in this premier tournament.
Action is set to start Thursday with the Round of 32 singles. On Friday, competition includes the Main Draw Round of 16, Quarterfinals, as well as Consolation Round of 16 and Quarterfinals. Main Draw and Consolation Semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, with the finals set on Sunday to wrap up the tournament.
The format is first match loser consolation draw played to completion. Singles, no-ad, best two-out-of-three tiebreak sets for all draws.
