Noel Falls In Semifinals At Fall Nationals

SAN DIEGO, California — University of Iowa women’s tennis sophomore Alexa Noel, ranked 12th nationally, lost in the semifinals of the ITA Fall National Championships on Saturday to USC’s Eryn Cayetano, 7-5, 6-3.

The pair competed previously against each other at the ITA All-American Championships last month, where Noel defeated Cayetano in three sets, 6-0, 1-6, 6-3.

“We are proud of Alexa and her run at the National Championships”, said Head Coach Sasha Schmid. “This was an incredible event, and I felt like she had a gauntlet of a draw to get through.”

Noel’s next competition is the Daytona 25K in Daytona, Florida, starting Nov. 10. More information about the tournament will next week.
