Hawkeyes Move Up 2 Spots at Tulane Classic

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Iowa women’s golf team moved up two spots after round two to sit in 11th place at the Tulane Classic with a 634. The Hawkeyes improved their team score by 22 strokes from Round 1 to Round 2.

The Hawkeyes were led by freshman Paula Miranda who is tied for 34th place after firing a four-over par 76. The Mexico native moved up one spot from the first round with two birdies and 11 par on the day.

Senior Manuela Lizarazu sits tied for 40th after her second round where she finished with a five-over par 77. Lizarazu recorded one birdie during her front nine and back nine with 10 pars.

Junior Lea Zeitler and Morgan Goldstein moved up a total of 22 spots combined during their second rounds. Zeitler moved up seven spots after firing a five-over par 77, while Goldstein moved up 15 spots with a four-over par 76. The duo combined for five birdies and 20 pars.

Iowa is 11 shots out of seventh place. North Texas leads the field with a 584 with a second round of 284 (-4).

– Miranda holds the second-best score among all competitors on par 4s (4.05, +1).
– The Hawkeyes sit seventh for par 4 holes with an average of 4.43 and 10th with 86 pars as a team
