IOWA CITY, Iowa – Two-time University of Iowa wrestling All-American Ray Brinzer will be enshrined into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame in October, it was announced by the PWCA.
The 2022 induction ceremonies will be held on Oct. 16 at the Mountainview Country Club in Boalsburg, Pennsylvania. Brinzer is one of 10 standouts who will be enshrined.
Brinzer was a two-time Big Ten champion (1994, 1995), a three-time NCAA qualifier and a two-time All-American for the Hawkeyes. He placed third in 1993 and 1995 at 177 pounds, falling to the eventual national champion both seasons.
Brinzer began his career at Oklahoma State before transferring to Iowa following his freshman season to wrestle for Hall of Fame coach Dan Gable.
Internationally, Brinzer was a U.S. National Greco-Roman runner-up and he qualified for the Greco-Roman team in 1998. He finished fourth at the 1999 U.S. Nationals in freestyle and won a number of international medals.
Brinzer graduated from the University of Iowa in 1994.
