Hughbanks Places in 1 Meter Finals

MINNEAPOLIS – University of Iowa diving was back in action for its second day of the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on Wednesday.

Sophomore Makayla Hughbanks qualified for finals after a 13th place score of 271.70 in the morning preliminary dives. The Bettendorf, Iowa, native finished 14th with an overall score of 542.55.

Freshmen Lainey Woodward (255.50) and Geneva Pauly (245.65), and junior Sarah Ballard (236.90) narrowly missed the finals with their respective preliminary scores.

Pauly and junior Claire Hartley will compete in the platform dive during the event’s third and final day on Thursday, Mar. 9. Prelims will begin at 11 a.m. (CT), which will be live streamed on B1G+ (FREE).
