Hawkeyes Host First Round at Calusa Cup 

NAPLES, Fl. – The University of Iowa men’s golf team is in eighth place after the first round at the Calusa Cup. Iowa is hosting four of the nation’s top five ranked teams this week at Calusa Pines Golf Club, a Golf Digest top-100 venue.

The Hawkeyes lead No. 39 Purdue by two strokes, combining for 310 (+22) on the day. Senior Mac McClear leads the way for Iowa, shooting 74 (+2) on Sunday.

McClear is six strokes back from leader Ryan Burnett of North Carolina and leads nine of the 20 Golfstat top-100 ranked competitors at the event. The Hawkeye veteran shot 35 (-1) to start the day on the front nine and finished with 13 pars, tying for the most in the field.

No. 35 Wake Forest tops the stacked leaderboard at Calusa Pines, shooting six-under (281) for the day. No. 3 North Carolina was the only other team to shoot below par in the first round (284).
