Hawkeyes Announce WBB Nonconference Schedule

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s basketball team announced its nonconference schedule for the 2023-24 season Tuesday. The schedule features seven home contests in Iowa City.

The Hawkeyes will play two preseason exhibition games, hosting DePaul in the CrossOver at Kinnick on Oct. 15 and Clarke University on Oct. 22 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.  Iowa opens the regular season with a home game against Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 6.

Iowa travels to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Ally Tipoff to face 2023 Final Four participant Virginia Tech. The Hawkeyes then continue on the road for an in-state tilt against Northern Iowa on Nov. 12 before returning to Carver-Hawkeye Arena ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday to play Kansas State and Drake.

The Hawkeyes are set to travel to the Clean Simple Eats Gulf Coast Showcase from Nov. 24-26 where they face Purdue-Fort Wayne in the opening round of the tournament.  Other teams in the field include: Delaware, Florida Gulf Coast, Kansas State, North Carolina, Vermont and Western Kentucky.

Iowa closes its nonconference slate with four December in-state contests, beginning with a Dec. 2 game against Bowling Green (Dec. 2) in Iowa City. The annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series game against Iowa State will be played on Dec. 6 at Hilton Coliseum in Ames and Iowa will play a neutral site game in Des Moines on Dec. 16 against Cleveland State as part of the Iowa men’s and women’s doubleheader inside Wells Fargo Arena. After breaking for finals, the Hawkeyes conclude nonconference play against Loyola Chicago on Dec. 21.

Iowa is coming off a historic season in which it won a school-record 31 games, finished NCAA national runners-up and was second in the country in attendance. Senior guard Caitlin Clark, who was the consensus National Player of the Year and Collegiate Woman of the Year, averaged 27.8 points, 8.6 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game. Seniors Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin, and sophomore Hannah Stuelke also return for Lisa Bluder’s 24th season as Iowa’s head coach.

Tickets for Iowa’s Crossover at Kinnick are still available in general admission seating. All purchases are nonrefundable, tickets for adults are $10 and $5 for youth (18 & younger). Season tickets for the 2023-24 campaign are sold out for the first time in program history.

Tickets are only sold and issued by the UI Athletics Ticket Office and its authorized agents. Persons buying tickets from other entities do so at their own risk. Fans should use caution if buying tickets from unauthorized outlets and are strongly encouraged to use SeatGeek, the official fan to fan marketplace of Hawkeyes, for sold out events. The UI Athletic Ticket Office is only able to service/support purchases made through that office, or on SeatGeek. Iowa Athletics reserves the right to cancel any ticket purchases, less fees, made for the purpose of resale without notification.
