Hawkeyes to Play in Chattanooga Classic

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team returns to action in Tennessee at the Chattanooga Classic from April 7-9. The 54-hole tournament will be held at Council Fire Golf Club (par 71, 5,955 yards) beginning with an 8:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start on Sunday.

THE LINEUP
The Hawkeyes’ lineup will include sophomore Madison Dabagia, sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna, junior Paula Miranda, freshman Ximena Benites and sophomore Riley Lewis. Sophomore Shannyn Vogler will complete as an individual.

THE FIELD
The 16-team field includes: Campbell (100), Charlotte (137), Chattanooga (77), Cincinnati (157), Colorado State (47), East Tennessee State (135), Iowa (92), Lipscomb (103), Michigan (39), Middle Tennessee State (154), North Florida (88), South Florida (34), UTSA (62), Western Kentucky (71), Xavier (117) and Yale (97). THE COURSE
Council Fire Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course built in 1992 by world renowned architect, Bob Cupp. This 5,955-yard, par-71 course plays over 114 acres of Bermuda surfaces with many features including lakes, a stream, mountain ranges and natural foliage. The club has hosted PGA Tour, Senior Tour and NCAA Championship events.

LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes finished sixth out of 17 teams at the Tulane Classic presented by Chad Brownstein from March 10-12, finishing with a 905 (300-302-298) total. Sophomore Madison Dabagia led the team, tying for 11th place with a 222 (79-70-73). It was the third straight meet Dabagia has either recorded or tied for the top finish on the team.

MADI’S SPRING SUCCESS
Sophomore Madison Dabagia is enjoying a breakout spring season, as the Indiana native has shot at or below par in eight of her 12 rounds. Dabagia has a 72.52 scoring average with four top 20 finishes. She shot back-to-back 209s in tournaments in Arizona and Florida to tie the school 54-hole record.
• Dabagia fired a six-under par 66 in the opening round at the UNF Collegiate, tying the school record that was previously set in 2021.

OF NOTE…
• Sophomore Madison Dabagia and junior Paula Miranda tied the 54-hole school record, firing seven-under par 209s at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Dabagia matched the record a second consecutive week in Jackson- ville.
• Sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna had a career-low score of 216 (E) at the Westbrook Invitational. The Omaha native has a 73.67 scoring average with eight rounds at or below par this spring.
• The Hawkeyes finished with team 18, 36 and 54-hole school records at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. Iowa has five of the top 16 rounds and two of the top three 54-hole scores in school history this spring.
• Iowa has 25 sub-par rounds and 12 even par rounds, individually, this season.
• The team has been in the red in four individual rounds this season.

UP NEXT
The Hawkeyes will return to action April 13-14 at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. It is the team’s final tournament prior to playing in the 2024 Big Ten Championships in Maryland.
