Dejnozkova Advances to Semifinals at ITA Central Regionals

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Iowa women’s tennis team continued to make strides on day four of the ITA Central Regionals, with Marisa Schmidt and Daianne Hayashida advancing to the quarterfinals in doubles and Tereza Dejnozkova securing a spot in the singles semifinals.

In the Round of 16 doubles action, Schmidt and Hayashida picked up an 8-3 victory over Central Arkansas’ Vichitraporn Vimuktananda and Konomi Miyakawa, earning them a place in the quarterfinals. However, their run came to an end with a hard-fought 8-5 loss to Arkansas’s Grace O’Donnell and Anet Koskel in the quarterfinals.

In singles, Dejnozkova advanced to the semifinals after her opponent, Ange Oby Kajuru of Oklahoma State, retired due to injury. Dejnozkova will look to continue her impressive run as she competes in the semifinals on Sunday at 10 a.m. (CT).

The Hawkeyes will return to the court tomorrow to conclude their tournament journey with Dejnozkova competing in the main draw singles semifinals.
