IOWA CITY, Iowa — University of Iowa senior Kaden Wetjen has been named the midseason watchlist for the Jet Award, which honors the most outstanding return specialist in college football. The announcement was made on Monday by the Jet Award Foundation.
Wetjen leads the nation with 371 combined kick return yards. He is in the top 25 in FBS in kick and punt returns, ranking 19th in kick returns (24.7) and 22nd in punt returns (9.9). The Williamsburg, Iowa, native had a career-long 37-yard kickoff return against Washington and he finished the game with 122 all-purpose yards — 11 rushing, 74 kickoff return and 37 punt return.
The award is named in honor of Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Famer Johnny “The Jet” Rodgers. The winner of the 2024 Jet Award will be selected by a panel of voters, including media members from the Football Writers Association of America, former recipients of the Jet Award, and two of our founders, Johnny Rodgers and William Reed.
Iowa (4-2, 2-1) returns to action Saturday at Michigan State (3-3, 1-2). Kickoff for that contest is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CT) in East Lansing, Michigan, and will be televised on NBC.
