IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Iowa women’s soccer team signed seven student-athletes, it was announced by head coach Dave DiIanni on Wednesday.

Josie Jones (M)
Urbandale, Iowa
(Waukee Northwest, VSA Rush)

High School – Three-time all-conference…first-team all-district as junior… first-team all-state team as junior…five career goals…team captain…nine career assists…three-time state tournament qualifier including back-to-back semifinalist finishes…team captain for past three seasons with VSA Rush…won two state championships with VSA Rush (2019, 2022).

Personal – Born September 16, 2006, in Des Moines…parents are Liana and Dustin Jones… has two siblings, Cameryn (26) and Ella (15)…accounting major at Iowa.

Why Iowa: “As soon as I talked to the coaching staff and walked on campus, I knew the University of Iowa would be a perfect fit for me. The Iowa women’s soccer team is competitive, passionate, and will provide me with an opportunity to grow as a player and a person. The coaches made me feel so welcomed and made it clear they want me to succeed. In addition, The University of Iowa will support me in achieving my academic goals. It has been a dream of mine to play college soccer and I’m excited to not only represent the University of Iowa but the state of Iowa. Go Hawks!”

High School – 28 career goals…14 career assists…set Cross Country school record as a freshman…two-time state champion in track (Distance Medley & 4×800)…three-time all-district…three time all-conference…all-state honors in track as sophomore…second-team all-state as sophomore…first team all-state as junior …named team captain as junior…three-time state tournament qualifier…captain of her club team…played in ECNL National Selection game where she received ECNL Midwest second-team all-conference honor…received four academic letters…silver cord…principal’s scholar award…received CIML All-Academic Recognition four times…named IHSAA Distinguished Academic Achievement…participated in Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leader, National Honor Society, and Key Club.

Personal – Born August 22, 2006, in Des Moines…parents are Angie and Brent Macke…father Brent played baseball and football at Buena Vista…two siblings, Kennedy (20), and Olivia (13)…Kennedy plays soccer at Minnesota State…business major at Iowa.

Why Iowa: “I have been a big Hawkeye fan my whole life and after spending time with the team and coaches I knew this was the place where I wanted to be. The coaching staff has been very supportive throughout the entire process, and I know this program will push me to be the best player and person I can be. I can’t wait to represent my home state. Go Hawks!”

High School – Two-time all-conference…did not participate in soccer sophomore year due to injury…27 career goals…14 career assists…played for Iowa Soccer Club (ISC) for eight years…now plays for ISC Unified…three-time State Cup Qualifier…2024 Iowa US Club Soccer State Champion…Two-time recipient of ISC Female player of the year.

Personal – Born April 5th, 2007, in Texas…parents are Manda and Matthew Potthoff…has one sibling, Evan (12)…undecided major at Iowa.

Why Iowa: “I chose to be a Hawkeye because I love the culture, environment of the team, the coaching staff, and the University itself. I knew if I chose Iowa, I would get to play with skilled teammates that would challenge me and push me every day. I grew up around the soccer program, going to games and ID camps, and I knew one day I wanted to be a part of it. I’m very excited to be a Hawkeye.”

High School – Named high school newcomer of the year as freshman…three-time first-team all-district…district utility player of the year…high-school offensive player of the year…district goalkeeper of the year…high-school MVP…averaged 1.1 goals per game as sophomore…149 saves as a junior…earned a letter in swim and dive…two-time AP Scholar…Superintendent Scholar…member of National Honor Society…Law academy president…Student Executive.

Personal – Born November 6th, 2006, in Carrolton, Texas…parents are Kim and Joe Ready…has two siblings, Kathleen (21), and Ellen (20)…Engineering major at Iowa.

Why Iowa: “I decided to commit to Iowa because of its campus culture, excellence in women’s soccer, and resources for both athletics and academics. When visiting I fell in love with the campus intertwined with downtown, as well as many of the engineering buildings and athletics facilities. The women’s soccer coaching staff as well as the students on campus helped me see myself as a future Hawkeye and realize Iowa was where I wanted to pursue my academic and athletic careers.”

Personal – Born May 19th, 2007, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada…parents are Lisa and Greg Reimer…two siblings, Allison (19), and, Jakob (19)…Public Health major at Iowa.

Why Iowa: “I decided to be a Hawkeye because the moment I was greeted on the Iowa campus I was welcomed by the coaches and community. Iowa City is a college town which reminds me of my hometown in Alberta, making it feel a bit like home. On my visit I was lucky enough to attend a football game where I witnessed “The Wave” to the children in the Children’s Hospital. This was extremely heartwarming and showed me what type of people are part of the school culture at Iowa.”

Personal – Born April 14th, 2007, in Montreal, Canada…Parents are Antonella Niro and Joe Tarasco…has one sister (20)…Finance major at Iowa.
