The University of Iowa women’s tennis team will play a pair of matches this week -- one at home and its first road contest. The Hawkeyes will host Kentucky on Friday at noon (CT) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center before traveling to play at Kansas on Sunday at noon at the Jayhawks Tennis Center.

THE OPPONENTS
• Kentucky opened the 2025 season with a pair of home victories, downing East Tennessee State (6-1) and Murray State (6-1) in Lexington.
• The Jayhawks open their dual season Friday, hosting Kansas City and Creighton in Lawrence.
LAST MATCH
The Hawkeyes opened the 2025 spring season with a 7-0 victory over Illinois State on Jan. 20 at the HTRC. Iowa won all nine matches in the dual, including winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

• Iowa returns six letterwinners from a team that won 13 matches and finished tied for sixth in the Big Ten standings during the 2024 season.
• Sasha Boros is in her ninth season as Iowa’s head coach. The Iowa alum has guided the Hawkeyes to 90 victories during her eight-year tenure. She has 267 wins as a head coach in stops at Stetson, Missouri and Iowa.

The Hawkeyes have two players -- juniors Tereza Dejnozkova and Daianne Hayashida -- in the ITA preseason rankings. Dejnozkova is ranked No. 75 in singles, while Hayashida is No. 89.
