RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The University of Iowa men’s golf completed their second round of play at the Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday. The Hawkeyes finished the second round in 13th place.
Josh Lundmark carded a one-under-par 71 in the second round highlighted by four birdies. The Hinsdale, Illinois, native’s two-day total of one under par propelled him from 44th to 32nd place.
Gage Messingham finished even par for the second round to bring his total to two over par. Messingham went two under on the front nine and climbed seven spots to 51st. Chance Rinkol also shot even par in the second round recording even scores on both the front and back nine. Rinkol now sits at four over par for the tournament jumping 10 places to 66th.
Max Tjoa posted a two-over-par round after opening with an even-par performance in the first round. Tjoa is tied for 51st with a two-day total of two over par. Ryan Shellberg rounded out the lineup shooting nine over par in the second round with a two-day total of 13 over par. He is in 87th after two rounds.
Ian Meyer is completing individually for the Hawkeyes, he finished second round of play four over par with a total score of six over par.
Iowa shot one over par in the second round of play ahead of fellow conference foes RV Ohio State and Wisconsin.

“We played a lot cleaner today. We had four players with 15 holes at par or better. Much improved from that standpoint. We did not make enough birdies as a team. It’s out there we just need to execute better on the greens.”
