GymHawks Fall at Zou to the Lou Quad

The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team posted a team score of 195.000 on Friday night inside the Family Arena, finishing fourth overall at the Zou to the Lou quad meet.

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team posted a team score of 195.000 on Friday night inside the Family Arena, finishing fourth overall at the Zou to the Lou quad meet.

No. 9 Missouri won the meet with a 197.150, followed by No. 14 Alabama with a 196.675 and No. 26 Illinois scoring 196.225.

Freshman Aurélie Tran led the way for the Hawkeyes, securing a third-place finish in the all-around scoring 39.275. Iowa had multiple top-three finishes throughout the night. Junior Hanna Castillo tied for third overall on vault with a career-high 9.875, while freshman Cassie Lee took second-place on beam with a season-high, 9.900. Junior Emily Erb matched her season best with an impressive 9.925 on floor.

FLOOR
Iowa opened the meet with a stellar performance on floor, posting a season-best, 49.275. Erb delivered a standout routine, matching her season-high with a 9.925. Castillo and senior Haley Tyson posted a pair of 9.875s to keep the momentum going. Freshman Sydney Turner and junior Karina Muñoz each added 9.800s, while Tran posted a solid 9.775 to round out a strong first rotation for the GymHawks.

VAULT
The GymHawks carried their momentum onto vault, scoring a 49.050. Castillo led the squad with a career-best 9.875, earning a third-place finish in the event. Tran impressed with a 9.825, while Muñoz followed closely behind with a 9.850. Junior Avery Chambers contributed a 9.775, and Turner added a 9.725. With another strong rotation, Iowa found itself in the lead at the halfway point of the meet.

BARS
Iowa continued to battle through the third rotation and posted a 48.600. Muñoz and Tran led the lineup with matching 9.875s, with Muñoz securing a season-high. Senior Ilka Juk added a 9.775, and Masella posted a 9.750 to help keep the Hawkeyes in the mix heading into the final rotation. 

BEAM
The GymHawks closed out the night on beam with a 48.075. Lee delivered a standout performance, posting a season-high 9.900 to secure second place in the event. Fifth-year senior Adeline Kenlin anchored the lineup with a strong 9.850. Tran continued her consistent night with a 9.800, while Juk added a 9.600.

The GymHawks return home to Coralville, Iowa, to host Illinois on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. CT inside Xtream Arena.
