Hawkeyes Head to Texas for Chevron Collegiate

The University of Iowa women’s golf team will continue its spring season on Monday and Tuesday at the Chevron Collegiate in Humble, Texas. The 54-hole tournament will be played at the Golf Club of Houston - Tournament Course (par 72, 7,425 yards) with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. (CT).

THIS WEEK

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup includes senior Paula Miranda, sophomore Ximena Benites, sophomore Maura Peters, freshman Lily Huether and junior Riley Lewis

THE FIELD 
The 15-team field includes Arkansas (1), Illinois (71), Indiana (72), Iowa (123), Iowa State (32), Maryland (67), Mississippi State (13), North Texas (63), SMU (43), TCU (17), Texas A&M (18), Texas State (96), Texas Tech (53), Tulsa (82) and UTSA (91).  (NCAA golf rankings)

THE COURSE 
The Golf Club of Houston - Tournament Course was the annual host of the Houston Open. The course, which was designed by Rees Jones and David Toms, offers strategically placed bunkers, expertly crafted greens and well-manicured fairways. The course opened in 2003 and has earned a reputation of challenging yet enjoyable to play, and a world-class golf experience for modern players.

LAST MEET
The Hawkeyes finished 11th at the spring-opening Collegiate Invitational in Guadalajara, Mexico, firing a 54-hole total of 920.  Senior Paula Miranda paced the team, tying for 33rd place with a 227, which included a two-under par 70 in the second round.

OF NOTE… 
• Senior Paula Miranda has posted a team-best 74.80 scoring average this season with two top-20 and one top 10 finish.  She has led the team in four of the team’s five tournaments this
• Miranda has a team-best three rounds at or below par this season, giving her 23 such rounds in her collegiate career.
• Sophomore Ximena Benites had back-to-back 69s at the Hurricane Invitational, matching the team’s lowest round of the fall.
• Three Hawkeyes -- Miranda, Benites and Maura Peters -- are the only players to compete in all five tournaments this season.
• Iowa won the Diane Thomason Invitational in October at Finkbine Golf Course.  It was the program’s first win since 2021. 
• The Hawkeyes finished with an 878 total at the Hurricane Invitational, which is the ninth-best 54-hole score in program history.

UP NEXT 
The Hawkeyes will head to Tucson, Arizona, for the Mountain View Collegiate on March 2-4.
