Tran Earns 3rd Big Ten Honor of the Season

University of Iowa gymnast Aurèlie Tran has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference. This is Tran’s third honor of the season and her career.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa gymnast Aurèlie Tran has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, it was announced Tuesday by the conference. This is Tran’s third honor of the season and her career.

The Repentigny, Quebec, Canada, native earned the distinction after competing in the all-around at the Minnesota Quad, helping the GymHawks post a 196.700. Tran captured her fourth all-around title of the season, scoring a season-high 39.500. She also set a season-high on beam scoring a 9.900, taking home a share of the event title. Tran finished tied for first on vault and bars as well, scoring a 9.850 and a 9.925, respectively.

Tran ranks eighth in the Big Ten in the all-around with a national qualifying score (NQS) of 39.355. She ranks eighth in the conference on bars and 20th on beam.

This is the second straight season that an Iowa freshman has won Freshman of the Week honors three times (Eva Volpe).

Iowa travels to Ann Arbor, Michigan, for the 2025 Big Ten Championships on Saturday, March 22. Iowa will compete in session two beginning at 11 a.m. CT inside of the Crisler Center. All sessions will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
