Iowa Tied For 4th After First Day of MountainView Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz. – Three University of Iowa women’s golfers finished at par or better during the first round of the MountainView Collegiate at the Preserve Golf Club at Saddlebrooke.  The Hawkeyes are in a six-way tie for fourth place with a two-over par 290. 

The 290 round is tied for the team’s second-best round of the season.  Iowa is one shot out of third place, seven back of No. 13 TCU and eight shots behind No. 34 Oklahoma (282). 

 

Sophomore Maura Peters paced the team with a two-under par 70 after carding five birdies during her opening round.  Peters, who is tied for sixth place, has been in the red twice this season and she has three rounds at or below. 

Sophomore Ximena Benites and junior Riley Lewis posted even-par 72s on Sunday to finish the day tied for 21st. Benites had a pair of birdies, while Lewis added three to the team’s 14 total for the first round.   

Individually, Oklahoma’s Audrey Rischer leads the field, sitting at four-under par (68).
