Iowa Set For Nashville Invitational

Iowa women’s golf heads to Old Hickory, Tennessee, to compete at the Nashville Invitational on March 24-25. Tee times begin Monday at 8 a.m. (CT).

THIS WEEK
The University of Iowa women’s golf team heads to Old Hickory, Tennessee, to compete at the Nashville Invitational on March 24-25. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Lipscomb University, will be played at The Hermitage Golf Course, President’s Reserve (Par 72, 6,210 yards) with tee times beginning Monday at 8a.m. (CT).

THE LINEUP
Iowa’s lineup includes senior Paula Miranda, junior Riley Lewis, sophomore Ximena Benites, sophomore Maura Peters and freshman Lily Huether.

THE FIELD
The 16-team field includes Lipscomb (196), Iowa (111), Cal State Fullerton (80), Houston Christian (189), Morehead State (174), Jacksonville (120), Longwood (212), Belmont (200), Tennessee State (276), Cal State Northridge (155), Washington State (114), Western Michigan (203), Butler (180), North Alabama (147), Eastern Washington (124), Austin Peay State (131). THE COURSE
The Hermitage Golf Course, President’s Reserve opened in 1986 and was designed by Denis Griffiths. The course offers beautiful views of the Tennessee wetlands and the Cumberland River. The Presidents Reserve was recognized as one of the top 10 courses in Tennessee by Golf Digest Magazine.

LAST MEET
Iowa finished tied for eighth at the Briars Creek Invitational, finishing with a 36-hole total of 590 (297-293). The tournament was shortened due to the threat of weather. Senior Paula Miranda and sophomore Ximena Benites paced the team, tying for 17th with 145 totals.

OF NOTE…
• Senior Paula Miranda has posted a team-best 74.17 scoring average this season with four top-20 and one top 10 finish. She has led the team in seven of the team’s eight tournaments this season.
• Miranda has a team-best six rounds at or below par this season, giving her 26 such rounds in her collegiate career.
• Sophomore Ximena Benites fired back-to-back 69s at the Hurricane Invitational, matching the team’s lowest round of the fall. She posted a pair of rounds at or below par at the MountainView Collegiate enroute to tying for 11th place.
• Three Hawkeyes -- Miranda, Benites and Maura Peters -- are the only players to compete in all eight tournaments this season.
• Iowa shot a two-over par 290 during the opening round of the MoutainView Collegiate. It was tied for the team’s second-best round of the season.
• Iowa won the Diane Thomason Invitational in October at Finkbine Golf Course. It was the program’s first win since 2021.
• The Hawkeyes finished with an 878 total at the Hurricane Invitational, which is the ninth-best 54-hole score in program history.

UP NEXT
Iowa will head to Dallas, Texas for the 2025 Veritex Bank Challenge, on April 7-8.
