IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa women’s basketball student-athletes Addi O’Grady and Taylor McCabe have been named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selections, it was announced Tuesday by the CSC.
To be eligible for the award, nominees must have a 3.5 GPA and completed one full calendar year at their current institution and is at least a sophomore academically and athletically. Nominees must also be a starter or important reserve to the team and participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests.
O’Grady specializes in chemical engineering and McCabe handles civil engineering. For both of them, it is the first time making the CSC Academic All-District list.
On the court, O’Grady led the Hawkeyes in field goal percentage shooting 62 percent. She started 18 games and played in all 34 this season and was Iowa’s third leading scorer averaging 9.3 ppg.
McCabe led Iowa in multiple categories from behind the arch. She finished the season shooting 40 percent from 3-point range which was third best in the conference and 31st nationally.
Iowa finished the season 23-11 and made the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Hawkeyes extended their 20+ win streak to nine consecutive seasons under first-year head coach Jan Jensen.
