4 Hawkeyes Named to 2025 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Four senior members of the University of Iowa football team have been named to the 2025 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society. Student-athletes recognized include defensive end Ethan Hurkett, tight end Luke Lachey, offensive lineman Mason Richman and defensive back Quinn Schulte

In its 19th year, the Hampshire Honor Society recognizes football players who are a starter or a significant contributor in 2024, have been enrolled in school at least three years and achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (4.0 scale) or better throughout their college career.

Hurkett, a native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, carried a 3.44 GPA while majoring in management. He is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and earned Hampshire Honor Society laurels for a second consecutive year. On the field, the honorable mention all-conference honoree started all 13 games, recording 56 tackles (32 solo, 24 assists), and posted team bests in tackles for a loss (11.5), sacks (6.5) and forced fumbles (3).

Lachey, a Columbus, Ohio, native, was a CLAS non-degree student in 2024 with a 3.76 GPA. A permanent team captain in 2024, Lachey was a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He played in 12 contests, ranking second on the team in receptions (28) and receiving yards (231) as a senior.

Richman had a 3.33 GPA as a sports and recreation management major. The Leawood, Kansas, native started at left tackle in all 13 games in 2024 and was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection. Over the course of his collegiate career, Richman started 52 career games, the most by a Hawkeye offensive lineman in the Kirk Ferentz era. He is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a two-time Hampshire Honor Society honoree.

Schulte was a CLAS non-degree student in 2024, holding a 3.75 GPA. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa, native also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors five straight years and was a Hampshire Honor Society honoree each of the last two seasons. Schulte was named honorable mention All-Big Ten for a second consecutive year after starting at free safety in all 13 games in 2024. A permanent team captain in 2024, Schulte registered 62 tackles (40 solo, 22 assists), had three interceptions and three pass breakups.

The Hawkeyes will wrap up spring football with an open practice presented by University of Iowa Health Care on April 26 in Kinnick Stadium.
