HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. – Senior Paula Miranda fired a one-under par 71 to pace the University of Iowa women’s golf team on day two of the Big Ten Championships at the Bulle Rock Golf Course.
The Mexico native had three birdies and 12 pars en route to her ninth round at or below par this season. She moved up 16 spots during Saturday’s round into a tie for 30th place with a 147 (76-71).
Freshman Lily Huether also moved up 16 spots from day one to day two in her Big Ten Championships debut. She shaved off four shots from her first round to her second round to move into a tie for 53rd place with a 152 (78-74) with sophomore Maura Peters.
Iowa shot 12-over par 300, shaving off three shots from day one to day two. The Hawkeyes are in 15th place heading into Sunday’s final round with a 603 (303-300).
Michigan State leads the tournament with a three-under par 573. The Spartans’ Brooke Biermann, Oregon’s Kiara Romero and Illinois’ Victoria Zheng share the individual lead with a three-under par 141.
