Hawkeyes Conclude Boilermaker Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana - The University of Iowa men’s golf team wrapped up play at the Boilermaker Invitational on Sunday, finishing in 12th place with an 11-over-par 863 at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course. The Hawkeyes posted an 11-over 295 in the final round.

Junior Gage Messingham capped off a strong weekend with an even-par 71 in the third round, highlighted by three birdies on the front nine. He finished tied for ninth overall with a three-under-par 210, his third top 10 finish this season. The Arvada, Colorado, native led the field in par-3 scoring, averaging 2.83.

Sophomore Max Tjoa fired a one-over-par 72 in the final round, notching three birdies on the day. Tjoa ended the tournament at even par (213), tying for 23rd individually. The Cedar Falls, Iowa, native has placed in the top 25 in four of six tournaments this spring.

Freshman Chance Rinkol entered the final round at one-under-par but carded a nine-over 80 on Sunday to finish tied for 63rd at eight-over-par 221.

Freshman Ryan Shellberg shot a five-over-par 76 in round three, bringing his tournament total to 10-over-par 223 and a tie for 70th place. Senior Ian Meyer matched Shellberg with a 76 (+5) in the final round and concluded the event tied for 85th at 15-over-par 228.
