IOWA CITY, Iowa - University of Iowa freshman Chance Rinkol has been named Iowa’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree, the conference office announced Thursday.
The Big Ten Sportsmanship Award is presented annually to one student-athlete from each varsity program across all member institutions. Honorees are selected for displaying exceptional sportsmanship, ethical behavior, and integrity, while also maintaining strong academic standing and demonstrating citizenship beyond the field of play.
The Lee’s Summit, Missouri, native competed in nine tournaments, posting a 74.7 stroke average across 27 rounds. At the Hawkeye Invite, Rinkol tied for 13th place at one-over-par (217), highlighted by a career-low four-under-par 68 in the second round. He led the tournament field in total pars (38) and finished second in par-3 scoring (3.08 average).
