Hawkeyes Set to Travel to No. 6 Arkansas

SCOUTING THE RAZORBACKS
- In 2024 Arkansas posted a 16-2-3 overall record including an 8-1-1 conference record in the SEC.
- The Razorbacks earned a No. 2 seed in the 2024 NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the Sweet 16. They fell to No. 4 seeded Standford, 4-2, in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw.
- Razorback field is a tough place to play as Arkansas has not suffered a lost in 42 of their last 43 games at home, dating back to 2021.
- Arkansas ranked fifth in average attendance in 2024 (2, 358).
- Arkansas has made the NCAA Tournament nine seasons in a row.
- Arkansas’  71 goals in 2024 led the country. They also led the country in corner kicks (182), points per game (10.43), scoring offense (3.38), and shots on goal per game (11.52).
- Of their 71 goals scored in 2024, Arkansas returns 10 players who were responsible for 23 goals. Their top goal scorer returning, Bella Field, added six goals last season. 

SERIES HISTORY - ARKANSAS
This marks the first meeting between the Hawkeyes and the Razorbacks. Iowa’s only SEC opponent in 2024 was No. 12 Texas which ended in a 0-0 draw. Arkansas played one Big Ten opponent last season when they traveled to No. 8 Michigan State, ending in a 2-2 draw. Iowa is 22-53-14 all-time against ranked opponents. Last season Iowa went 4-0-2 against ranked opponents.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Sofia Bush, Millie Greer, and Liana Tarasco were named Big Ten Players to Watch. The Hawkeyes were picked sixth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll. Bush was also named a midfielder to watch by Top Drawer Soccer.
- The Hawkeyes return last season’s three top goal scorers. Meike Ingles (7), Berit Parten (7), and Sofia Bush (5) all return for the Hawkeyes.
- Iowa is filled with veteran leadership, rostering eight graduate students and three seniors. 
- Iowa is ranked No. 13 in United Soccer Coaches’ pre-season poll. The No. 13 ranking is the highest pre-season ranking in program history and is just the second time in program history that the Hawkeyes earned a pre-season ranking. The first pre-season ranking in program history came last season when the Hawkeyes were ranked 25th to start the season.
- The Hawkeyes graduated the program’s all-time winningest goalkeeper in Macy Enneking. Enneking defend ed the goal for Iowa for the last three seasons.
- Iowa also graduated Rielee Fetty, Madison Wilson, Maya Hansen, Lauren Geczik, Delaney Holtey, Elle Otto, and Maggie Johnston.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
- Iowa held a six-game shutout streak in 2024, which was a program record for consecutive shutouts.
- The Hawkeyes shutout four ranked opponents last season against No. 12 Texas, No. 15 Rutgers, No. 18 Wake Forest, and No. 24 Washington.
- The Hawkeye defense allowed just 12 goals, breaking the previous program record of 16 goals allowed.
- Iowa posted 12 shutouts last season, tying for the second most shutouts in program history. The Hawkeyes finished the 2024 season with a shutout percentage of .545.

DIIANNI EXTENDED
- Head Coach Dave DiIanni signed a contract extension on Feb. 27, 2025, that extended the programs all-time winningest coach through 2029.
- Since 2019, the Hawkeyes have won two Big Ten Championships, won each of four NCAA tournament games in program history, made four of the five NCAA Tournament appearances in program history, earned 12 postseason wins, and posted 53 shutouts.
- Last season Iowa finished 13th in the country in attendance and second in the Big Ten.
- In 2024 Iowa was ranked in the United Soccer Coaches poll top-25 every week of the season, something that previously had never been done in program history. 
- The Hawkeyes finished the 2024 campaign ranked No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches poll and No. 14 in Top Drawer Soccer’s poll. The No. 12 postseason ranking was the highest postseason ranking in program history and just the second time the Hawkeyes were ranked in the final poll.

Four members of Iowa’s 2024 senior class have gone on to sign professional contracts.

2024 SUCCESS
- The Hawkeyes third place finish in the Big Ten regular season tied the best finish in program history. Iowa also finished third in the conference in 2019.
- The Hawkeyes No. 9 ranking at one point in the season was the highest ranking in program history.
- At 15-3-4 the Hawkeyes tied the program record for most victories in a season. Iowa won 15 games in 2013 and 2019. 
- The Hawkeyes finished with four wins against ranked opponents in 2024 which was a program record. Prior to Coach DiIanni’s arrival in 2014 Iowa had a total of 9 wins against ranked opponents. In DiIanni’s tenure they have 13.
- Iowa’s eight wins in conference marked a program record for most wins in the Big Ten regular season.
- The Hawkeyes finished with a .773 winning percentage on the season, which set a program record. The previous high was in 2019 with a .738 winning percentage.
- Iowa advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.
- The Hawkeyes defended their home turf, winning nine games at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The nine wins at home tied a program record.

- Won both Big Ten Tournament Championships in program history (2021, 2023)
- Won each of four NCAA Tournament victories in program history

- Saw Coach DiIanni surpass 300 career wins and become the winningest coach in program history
- Set a new home attendance record (2,629); the overtime win over Bucknell was the first NCAA Tournament game hosted at the Iowa Soccer Complex
- Set a home average attendance record (1,479); in the 2024 season. Iowa’s attendance in the 2024 season ranked 13th nationally and second amongst Big Ten teams.

OPENING MATCH RECORDS
- In program history the Hawkeyes are 17-9-2 in their season opener.
- Head Coach Dave DiIanni is 8-2-1 in his time at the helm of the Hawkeyes in season opening games.
- All-time Iowa is 9-4-0 when opening their season on the road.
- Head Coach Dave DiIanni is 5-2-0 in his Hawkeye career when starting the season on the road.
- This marks the first time in program history that Iowa opens their season with a ranked opponent.

SIDELINE UPDATE
- Katelyn Longino, Associate Head Coach, accepted the head coaching position at Grand Valley State.
- The Hawkeyes hired assistant coach Maddi Moon. Moon joins the Hawkeyes after spending the previous five years as the head coach at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Moon led the Tritons to a 14-4-3 conference record. They also won their conference tournament, marking the first conference title in program history.
- Director of Operations, Molly Rygh, accepted the director of operations position for the Iowa Women’s Basketball team. 
- Iowa hired Addie Bundy, a former player (2021-23), to be the new director of operations. Bundy was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree in 2022.

2 FOR THE MONEY
Iowa’s record is 55-2-3 in its last 60 games when scoring two goals or more, which dates back to October of 2017.

UP NEXT
The Hawkeyes home opener comes against No. 9 TCU on Aug. 21. The match is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. (CT) and will broadcast live on BTN. Iowa then stays at home where they play host to Western Michigan on Aug. 24.
