IOWA CITY, Iowa – Junior Sofia Bush was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watchlist the United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday. The Hermann Trophy is, “College soccer’s oldest and most prestigious award – soccer’s equivalent of the Heisman Trophy”.
Bush becomes just the second Hawkeye to ever be selected to the watchlist. Former Hawkeye Macy Enneking became the first Hawkeye to be named to the watchlist after she was selected in 2024.
This becomes the fourth preseason honor for Bush as she was named a Midfielder to watch by Top Drawer Soccer, a Big Ten Player to watch, and was named to Top Drawer Soccer's Preseason Best XI Second Team. Bush was also ranked No. 21 in Top Drawer Socceer's Top-100 player's list.
The Marion, Iowa native was named All-Big Ten Third Team last season. In her sophomore campaign she started in all 22 games totaling 1,749 minutes while playing 90 minutes in six games. Bush recorded five goals on the season while two of those proved to be game winners. Bush also added four assists in 2024.
The Hawkeyes 2025 season gets underway Thursday night, traveling to No. 6 Arkansas. The match kicks off at 6:30 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed live on SECN+. Head Coach Dave DiIanni is 2-1 in his Iowa career against opponents ranked sixth or higher.
