HAWKEYES SET TO OPEN THE FALL SEASON AT BOILERMAKER CLASSIC

The University of Iowa women’s golf team heads to West Lafayette, Indiana for the Boilermaker Classic. The Hawkeyes begin the tournament Monday with a 9 a.m. (CT) tee time.

THIS WEEK  
The University of Iowa women’s golf team heads to West Lafayette,Indiana, to open the fall season as they head to the Boilermaker Classic on Sept. 1-2.  The  54-hole tournament will be held at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen-Cosler Course (par 72, 6,299-yards). Monday and Tuesday will have a  9 a.m. (CT) shotgun start.

THE LINEUP 

Iowa’s lineup includes senior Shannyn Volger, senior Riley Lewis, junior Ximena Benites,  junior Maura Peters, freshman Sunny Wang and senior Kaitlyn Hanna will be playing as an individual. 

THE FIELD  
The 14-team field includes: Abeline Christian, Ball State, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Lehigh, Little Rock, North Florida, Ole Miss, Purdue, Toledo, Western Kentucky, Xavier. 

THE COURSE  
Kampen-Cosler Course is one of the nation’s most respected collegiate golf courses with a championship-caliber, par-72 links-style layout designed by Pete Dye.  Kampen–Cosler stands as a cornerstone of collegiate golf and a true test for the best players in the Big Ten.
HAWKEYE NEWCOMERS
Two freshmen -- Cailyn Rogers (Lexington, Kentucky) and Sunny Wang (Beiging, China) -- join the Hawkeye roster this fall.  
• Rogers won five tournament titles and posted 10 top 10 finishes since 2022 and Wang Posted four top 10 finishes at the CLPGQ Oriental Pearl as a senior. 

OF NOTE…  
• Freshman Sunny Wang will be making her Hawkeye debut at Boilermaker Classic.
• The Hawkeyes return seven letterwinners, including four players -- senior Riley Lewis, juniors Ximena Benites and Maura Peters and sophomore Lily Huether -- who competed in the 2025 Big Ten Championships.  The team also welcomes a pair of freshmen to the nine-player roster. 

HUETHER NAMED WGCA ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLAR
• Huether was named to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team last season.
• The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics.  To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team’s roster through the conclusion of the team’s season and have played in 50 percent of the college’s regular scheduled competitive rounds during the year through the team’s conference championship. 

UP NEXT  
The Hawkeyes will return to the link on Sept. 14- 16, traveling to Madison, Wisconsin, for the Badger Invitational. 

HOME SWEET HOME
The Hawkeyes will host the Diane Thomason Invitational presented by Scheels on Sep. 29–30 at Finkbine Golf Course for a second straight fall. Iowa captured the tournament title in 2024 with a team total of 906 (288-299-319), marking the program’s first team championship since 2021. The Hawkeyes went on to claim the team title at the Nashville Invitational during the 2025 spring seaason posting a team total of 893 (294-298-301).
