CARY, N.C. – Two University of Iowa women’s tennis student-athletes – seniors Daianne Hayashida and Tereza Dejnozkova -- will compete at the ITA Women’s All-American Championships, beginning Saturday, at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.
The duo will compete in the pre-qualifying draw in doubles. Dejnozkova will play in the singles pre-qualifying draw, while Hayashida will play in the qualifying draw.
“It’s great to get back on the court and have our fall season start at the ITA All-American Championships,” said Iowa head coach Sasha Boros. “It’s one of the tournaments that is a qualifier for the NCAA singles and doubles championships this fall. It’s a prestigious, competitive, high-level tournament. I know Tereza and Daianne are looking forward to competing and having an opportunity to move forward in draws. This competition is always tough, and we’re looking forward to high-quality matches.”
Dejnozkova will open the tournament Saturday in the Round of 160, facing Charlotte’s Sara Suchankova at 9:30 a.m. (CT).
In doubles, Hayashida and Dejnozkova will meet Utah’s Kaila Barksdale and Sara Akid at 2:30 p.m.
Hayashida will begin her singles run on Monday.
