The No. 8 University of Iowa women’s soccer team travels to No. 20 Wisconsin on Thursday, Sept. 25 where the match will start at 7 p.m. (CT). The Hawkeyes then stay on the road traveling to Nebraska on Sunday, Sept. 28 for a 1 p.m. (CT) kick-off.

THIS WEEK
The No. 8 University of Iowa women’s soccer team travels to No. 20 Wisconsin on Thursday, Sept. 25 where the match will start at 7 p.m. (CT). The Hawkeyes then stay on the road traveling to Nebraska on Sunday, Sept. 28 for a 1 p.m. (CT) kick-off.

SCOUTING THE BADGERS
- Wisconsin comes into the match with a 7-2-1 overall record and 1-1-1 Big Ten conference record. In their most recent matchup, the Badgers picked up a, 2-1, victory over No. 8 Penn State on the road. 
- In terms of similar opponents, Wisconsin fell to Purdue, 2-1, while Iowa defeated Purdue, 2-1.
- The Badgers are led by junior Erin Connolly on the offensive end with five goals. Connoly leads the team with 24 shots and two game-winning goals. The junior’s five goals rank fifth in the Big Ten individually.
- Junior Elle Ottey leads Wisconsin with five assists. Her five assists rank 24th nationally and second in the conference.
- Senior goalkeeper Drew Stover has started all 10 games for the Badgers. She has allowed six goals while posting five shutouts which ranks 15th nationally and second in the conference. Her 900 minutes on the season ranks 15th nationally and first in the conference. The senior has posted 25 saves to go along with a save percentage of .806.
- Wisconsin is outshooting their opponents, 155-66, on the season. They are averaging 1.7 goals per game while holding opponents to .60. 

SERIES HISTORY - WISCONSIN
Iowa trails Wisconsin in the all-time series, 7-18-5. Last time the two opponents played Wisconsin picked up a, 2-1, victory over the Hawkeyes in Iowa City. Iowa is 2-8-4 all-time when playing in Madison. The first meeting between the two programs came on Oct. 12, 1997.

SCOUTING THE CORNHUSKERS
- Nebraska heads into the week with a 5-0-5 overall record. The Cornhuskers are the only team in the Big Ten to not yet suffer a defeat on the season. 
- The Cornhuskers play host to Michigan on Thursday, Sept. 25 prior to their match against the Hawkeyes. 
- Nebraska was picked to finish 12th in the Big Ten preseason poll. Their three players on the Big Ten players to watch list were Reagan Raabe (F/MF), Sadie Waite (MF), and Lauryn Anglim (D).
- Junior Kayma Carpenter leads Nebraska with five goals. Carpenter has fired 14 shots on the season, putting seven on goal. She leads the conference with three game winning goals while ranking 12th nationally. 
- Graduate Student Reagan Raabe leads the conference averaging 3.4 shots per game. Raabe has fired 34 shots on the season.
- Of their 18 goals, Nebraska has a total of 25 assists. 11 different players have an assist on the season. Their 2.5 assists per game rank first in the conference and 22nd nationally.
- As a team, the Cornhuskers have 69 corner kicks. Their 6.9 corner kicks per game ranks first in the Big Ten and 19th nationally.
- Nebraska also leads the Big Ten in shots per game at 17.9, while ranking 21st nationally.
- Raabe leads the team with four assists while five other players have three.
- Goalkeeper Cece Villa has appeared in all 10 games while earning nine starts. Villa has allowed six goals, posting 31 saves. She has posted four shutouts on the season. 

SERIES HISTORY - NEBRASKA
Iowa trails Nebraska in the all-time series, 5-12-1. Up until 2018, Iowa was 0-10-1 against the Cornhuskers, since then, Iowa has won five of the last seven. Iowa is 2-9-0 when playing in Lincoln, while DiIanni is 2-4 in his Iowa tenure when playing there. The first meeting between the two teams came on Aug. 31, 2003. In the most recent matchup, the Hawkeyes won, 2-0, in Iowa City.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Sofia BushMillie Greer, and Liana Tarasco were named Big Ten Players to Watch. The Hawkeyes were picked sixth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll. Bush was also named a midfielder to watch by Top Drawer Soccer.
- Iowa is filled with veteran leadership, rostering eight graduate students and three seniors. 
Meike Ingles (lower leg injury), Eva Pattison (redshirt), and Abby Warner (redshirt) will be out for the rest of the 2025 season.
- Iowa’s No. 13 preseason ranking was the highest preseason ranking in program history. It also marked just the second time Iowa earned a preseason ranking.
- The Hawkeyes No. 7 ranking in Top Drawer Soccer’s poll earlier this season marked the highest ranking in program history.
- The Hawkeyes graduated the program’s all-time winningest goalkeeper in Macy Enneking. Enneking defended the goal for Iowa in each of the last three seasons.
- Kenzie Roling, Greer, and Bush were voted team captains.

THE DIIANNI FILE
- DiIanni signed a contract extension on Feb. 27, 2025, that extended the programs all-time winningest coach through 2029.
- DiIanni is 3-2 in his Iowa career against opponents ranked sixth or higher. Before his arrival, Iowa was 0-7 in those games and was outscored, 29-4.
- Entering this season, DiIanni is the second active winningest D1 coach in the country by percentage, with a win percentage of .753. He only trails Paul Ratcliffe of Stanford at .784.
- DiIanni entered 2025 with the 19th most wins amongst active D1 coaches.
- DiIanni is the 41st winningest coach of all-time based of win percentage. He is the sixth winningest D1 coach of all-time.
- DiIanni has won all four NCAA Tournament matches in program history.

HAWKEYE FAITHFUL
- After hosting six home games at the Iowa Soccer Complex, Iowa’s average attendance of 2,064 fans ranks sixth in the country and first in the Big Ten.
- Iowa’s home match against TCU marked a program regular season crowd attendance record with 2,382 fans.
- The year prior to DiIanni’s arrival, in 2013, the Hawkeyes averaged an attendance of 522 fans per game. Their attendance ranked 76th in the country and eighth in the Big Ten.

QUICK HITTERS
- Graduate student Price Loposer’s 88 games played in her career are tied for the second most games played amongst active players.
- Greer has played and started in every game. She has also played the full 90 minutes in nine of ten matches. She leads the team with 847 minutes on the season.
- Tarasco’s shot accuracy of .650 ranks second in the Big Ten and 20th nationally. 
Taylor Kane is 16-2 in her collegiate career as the starting goalkeeper.
- Bush’s and Elle Wildman’s four assists are the fourth most in the Big Ten. The single-season program record for assists is nine set by three different Hawkeyes.
- Iowa ranks first in the Big Ten in shots on goal per game (7.50) and goal differential (+14).
- The Hawkeyes rank second in the conference in points per game (6.40), scoring offense (2.10), shots per game (16.70), total goals (21), total points (64), and win percentage (.800).
Berkley Binggeli netted a game-winning goal against Purdue with 12 seconds remaining. The goal came on her birthday.
- Iowa is outshooting their opponents, 167-83.

2024 BREAKTHROUGHS
- At 15-3-4 the Hawkeyes tied the program record for most victories in a season. Iowa won 15 games in 2013 and 2019.
- Iowa advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history a season ago.

2 FOR THE MONEY
Iowa’s record is 61-3-3 in its last 67 games when scoring two goals or more, which dates back to October 2017.
