No. 13 Hawkeyes Face No. 24 Badgers in Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinal

The No. 13 University of Iowa women’s soccer team travels to the Big Ten Tournament where they take on No. 24 Wisconsin. The fourth-seeded Hawkeyes and fifth-seeded Badgers get underway at 3:30 p.m. (CT) on Nov. 1 in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals.

The No. 13 University of Iowa women’s soccer team travels to the Big Ten Tournament where they take on No. 24 Wisconsin. The fourth-seeded Hawkeyes and fifth-seeded Badgers get underway at 3:30 p.m. (CT) on Nov. 1 in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals.

SCOUTING THE BADGERS
Wisconsin heads into the Big Ten Tournament with a 12-4-2 overall record including a 6-3-2 Big Ten Conference record. After being picked to finish seventh in the Big Ten pre-season poll, the Badgers put together a fifth-place finish with 20 total points.
- Goalkeeper Drew Stover has played every minute for the Badgers on the season. In 18 games, Stover has posted nine shutouts which ranks ninth nationally and first in the conference. Stover’s 1620:00 minutes on the season rank fifth nationally and first amongst conference goalkeepers. She has posted 56 saves to go along with a save percentage of .789, allowing 15 goals (.83) on the season.
- The Badgers are outshooting their opponents, 225-140, on the season including outscoring them, 26-15. 
- Offensively, Wisconsin is led by Erin Connolly with seven goals on the season. Connolly has fired 30 shots putting fifteen on goal. Her seven goals rank seventh in the Big Ten.
- Ella Ottey has assisted on six goals this season. Her six assists rank fourth in the Big Ten.
- Adee Boer has added four goals on the season which all have gone on to prove as game winners. That ranks second in the conference and 27th nationally.
- Wisconsin is 3-1-1 on the season against ranked opponents.

SERIES HISTORY - WISCONSIN
Iowa trails the Badgers in the all-time series, 7-19-5. In their most recent meeting, the Hawkeyes fell to No. 20 Wisconsin, 2-1, in Madison this season. The first meeting between the two teams came on Oct. 12, 1997, where Wisconsin won, 2-0. The last time the Hawkeyes faced the Badgers in the Big Ten Tournament Iowa defeated No. 12 Wisconsin, 1-0, in the Big Ten Tournament Championship in 2023. It marked the program’s second Big Ten Tournament Championship.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Sofia Bush, Millie Greer, and Liana Tarasco were named Big Ten Players to Watch. The Hawkeyes were picked sixth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll. Bush was also named a midfielder to watch by Top Drawer Soccer.
- Iowa is filled with veteran leadership, rostering eight graduate students and three seniors. 
- Meike Ingles (lower leg injury), Eva Pattison (redshirt), and Abby Warner (redshirt) will be out for the rest of the 2025 season.
- Iowa’s No. 13 preseason ranking was the highest preseason ranking in program history. It also marked just the second time Iowa earned a preseason ranking.
- The Hawkeyes No. 5 ranking this season was the highest in program history.
- Iowa has made the Big Ten Tournament in three straight seasons. It is their 16th appearance all time.
- The Hawkeyes graduated the program’s all-time winningest goalkeeper in Macy Enneking. Enneking defended the goal for Iowa in each of the last three seasons.
- Kenzie Roling, Greer, and Bush were voted team captains.

THE DIIANNI FILE
- DiIanni signed a contract extension on Feb. 27, 2025, that extended the programs all-time winningest coach through 2029.
- DiIanni is 3-2 in his Iowa career against opponents ranked sixth or higher. Before his arrival, Iowa was 0-7 in those games and was outscored, 29-4.
- Entering this season, DiIanni is the second active winningest D1 coach in the country by percentage, with a win percentage of .753. He only trails Paul Ratcliffe of Stanford at .784.
- DiIanni entered 2025 with the 19th most wins amongst active D1 coaches.
- DiIanni is the 41st winningest coach of all-time based of win percentage. He is the sixth winningest D1 coach of all-time.
- DiIanni has won all four NCAA Tournament matches in program history.

HAWKEYE FAITHFUL
- The Iowa Soccer Complex was the place to be this season with Iowa’s average attendance of 2,076 fans ranking fifth in the country and first in the Big Ten.
- The 2,076 average fans in attendance set a new program record, breaking last season’s record of 1,479 fans per game.
- The year prior to DiIanni’s arrival, in 2013, the Hawkeyes averaged an attendance of 522 fans per game.
- Iowa’s home match against TCU marked a program regular season crowd attendance record with 2,382 fans.

QUICK HITTERS
- Graduate student Price Loposer’s 96 games played in her career are tied for the second most games played amongst active players. She only tails Lia Godfrey of Virginia with 101 games played.
- Taylor Kane is 18-3 in her collegiate career as the starting goalkeeper.
- Iowa ranks first in the Big Ten in shots on goal per game (7.06).
- Iowa is outshooting their opponents, 264-160. They are outscoring their opponents, 33-18.
- The Hawkeyes have allowed just six goals in the first half all season. They are outscoring their opponents, 13-6, in the first half.
- Bush’s six assists rank fourth in the conference.
- The Hawkeyes are 2-2 on the season against ranked opponents. They have scored a combined 11 goals in those games (2.75).
- Iowa’s 26 combined wins the past two seasons are the most since the 29 combined wins in 2014 & 2015.
- The Hawkeyes tied for third in the conference, also finishing third last season. The third-place finish ties the best finish in program history.
- Iowa is set to make the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive year which would be a program record. The Hawkeyes have hosted opening round NCAA Tournament games the past two seasons.

2024 BREAKTHROUGHS
- At 15-3-4 the Hawkeyes tied the program record for most victories in a season. Iowa won 15 games in 2013 and 2019.
- Iowa advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history a season ago.
Nine wins at home marked a program record.
Marked 13 consecutive games without a loss.
12 shutouts marked the second most in program history.

2 FOR THE MONEY
Iowa’s record is 64-3-4 in its last 71 games when scoring two goals or more, which dates back to October 2017. 
- The Hawkeyes are 9-1-1 on the season when scoring at least two goals.

MIDSEASON TOP 100

Four Hawkeyes were selected to Top Drawer Soccer’s Midseason Top 100 list.
Millie Greer was tabbed as 50th overall on the top overall player’s list.
- Three Hawkeyes were mentioned in the Top 100 Freshman list. Josie Jones (33rd), Liana Tarasco (37th), and Elle Wildman (55th).
- Jones was the ninth highest rated freshman in the Big Ten.

B1G TOURNAMENT

The 2025 Big Ten Women’s Soccer Tournament takes place from Oct. 30-Nov. 9. 
- The Hawkeyes have won two Big Ten Championships in the last five seasons (2021 & 2023). The Hawkeyes are the only team to have multiple Big Ten Tournament titles the past five seasons.
- Iowa’s two Big Ten Tournament titles in program history rank sixth in the conference. 
- The Hawkeyes currently post an 12-11-1 record in Big Ten Tournament matches.

HAWKEYES IN THE TOP 25
Dating back to last season, the Hawkeyes have stayed in the top 25.
- Last year Iowa broke a program record by staying in the top 25 all season, something that previously had never been done in program history.
- The Hawkeyes currently sit at No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.

SINCE 2019, IOWA...
- Won a pair of Big Ten Tournament Championships in 2021 and 2023
- Won all four NCAA Tournament matches in program history
- Made four out of the five NCAA Tournament appearances in program history
- Advanced to their first Sweet Sixteen in program history

- Saw Coach DiIanni surpass 300 career wins and become the winningest coach in program history
- Set a new home attendance record (2,629); the overtime win over Bucknell in 2023 was the first NCAA Tournament game hosted at the Iowa Soccer Complex
- Set a home average attendance record (2,076); in the 2025 season. Iowa’s attendance ranks 5th nationally and first amongst Big Ten teams.

UP NEXT
With a win, the Hawkeyes will face the winner of one-seeded Washington or nine-seeded Illinois/eight seeded Ohio State. The semifinal match would be on Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. (CT) in St. Louis at Energizer Park.
