THIS WEEK
Iowa (14-16, 5-13 B1G) wraps up the regular season with home matches against Ohio State and 25th-ranked Penn State. Friday's contest against the Buckeyes will serve as Iowa's Senior Day and Black Out match. Fans are encouraged to wear black. The Hawkeyes will honor setter Claire Ammeraal, libero Milana Moisio and outside Chard'e Vanzandt on Friday. Saturday's meeting with Penn State is Family Day. Both matches begin at 6 p.m. (CT) inside Xtream Arena.

2025 HIGHLIGHTS
- Setter Claire Ammeraal was drafted 22nd overall by the Omaha Supernovas in the 2025 MLV Draft on Monday. She is Iowa's first-ever player to be drafted to the MLV.
- Libero Milana Moisio leads the Big Ten with 424 digs. Setter Claire Ammeraal ranks second in the conference with 1,106 assists. She is tied for second with 11 double-doubles. Middle hitter Hannah Whittingstall is third in blocks with 127. The Hawkeyes are third in total blocks with 260.
- Claire Ammeraal picked up her second triple-double of the season in a five-set win against Northwestern on Nov. 13. Her 55 assist, 17 dig and 10 kill performance helped Iowa avenge an earlier season loss to the Wildcats.
- Iowa had five attackers record 10+ kills in both matches against Northwestern.
- The Hawkeyes have played an NCAA-most 13 five-set matches.
- Iowa's 3-2 win at Illinois was the program's first in Champaign since 2005.
- The Hawkeyes have nine wins at home in 2025, which are the most since the 2016 season.
SCOUTING OHIO STATE
- Ohio State is 6-20 on the season and 3-15 in conference play, with wins over Maryland, Michigan State and Rutgers.
- As a team, the Buckeyes have the highest opponent hitting percentage in the conference at .261.
- Transfer Hannah Jones leads the way for the Buckeyes with 316 kills. She is complemented by Reese Wuebker, who has 260 kills.
- Mia Tuman facilitates the Buckeye offense with 859 assists this season. The junior is currently ranked 11th in all-time assists leaders after surpassing 2,627 assists over Halloween weekend.
- Olivia Hasbrook holds down the defense for Ohio State with 342 digs. She also leads the team with 37 service aces.
- Head coach Jen Flynn Oldenburg is in her fifth year at her alma mater, and has compiled a 96-74 overall record.
SCOUTING #25 PENN STATE
- The defending national champions are 17-11 and 11-7 in conference play with ranked wins over No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 12 Creighton, No. 14 Kansas and No. 17 USC.
- Junior transfer, Kennedy Martin, has been Penn State’s main offensive threat this season, with a conference-leading 559 kills. The opposite hitter has been named the B1G Player of the Week three times this season, along with AVCA’s National Player of the Week following the sweep of No. 7 Wisconsin where she recorded 23 kills and hit .474.
- Martin also leads the team with 41 service aces, putting her at sixth in the conference.
- Addie Lyon runs the offense for the Nittany Lions with 950 assists this season. She currently ranks ninth in the Big Ten.
- Gillian Grimes is ranked fourth among Big Ten liberos with 392 digs this season. She was drafted 12th overall Monday by the San Diego Mojo.
- Katie Schumacher-Cawley is in her fourth season at the helm of the Penn State program, making history in 2024 as the first female head coach to lead a team to the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Volleyball title. A former Nittany Lion herself, she has an 84-19 overall record.
AMMERAAL DRAFTED BY OMAHA SUPERNOVAS
Claire Ammeraal was selected with the 22nd overall pick by the Omaha Supernovas in the 2025 Major League Volleyball draft on Monday afternoon. Ammeraal was the sixth pick in round three. The senior from Madison, Wisconsin, is the first-ever Hawkeye drafted to the MLV. After beginning her career at Central Michigan, Ammeraal joined the Hawkeyes in 2024 and has since compiled 1,484 assists, 248 kills, a .292 hitting percentage, 378 digs and 94 blocks. She has three triple-doubles and 14 double-doubles. This season, Ammeraal is one of 19 players nationally to record at least 410 assists, 220 digs and 85 kills. She is currently second in the Big Ten in assists (1,106) and has the most kills of any setter (164) in the league. Her 11 double-doubles are second in the conference. Ammeraal set her career high in assists (58) at Michigan on Oct. 11. She picked up her 3,000th career assist against USC on Oct. 17.

- Claire Ammeraal: 39 assists from career 3,500.
- Milana Moisio: 26 digs from 450 at Iowa.
- Chard'e Vanzandt: 42 kills from single-season career high; 1 dig from career 300.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT - CHARD'E VANZANDT
Graduate Chard’e Vanzandt became the Hawkeyes top option this season at outside. A former middle hitter, Vanzandt’s transition to the outside shows her versatility and athleticism. The Houston, Texas, native currently leads the team with 348 kills, averaging 3.03 kills per set. At the beginning of the season, Vanzandt surpassed 1,000 career kills in the Hawkeyes' sweep over Maryland to start Big Ten play. Vanzandt has recorded double-digit kills in 18 matches this season, setting a season-high 22 kills against Minnesota. Vanzandt spent her senior and fifth year at Chattanooga, where she ranks fourth on the program’s single-season hitting percentage list after recording a .341 clip during the 2024 season.
PRESENCE AT THE NET
Junior Hannah Whittingstall has been Iowa’s leader in blocks in back-to-back seasons. Despite missing two matches, she enters the final weekend of play fourth in the Big Ten with 127 blocks. That total is the most by a Hawkeye in a single season during the 25-point scoring format. In her first season as a Hawkeye (2024), the San Antonio, Texas, native led Iowa with 104 blocks, including 11 solo. With two matches to play, she has surpassed that number with 15.
ON THE DEFENSE
Against Northwestern, the Hawkeyes dug a season-high 76 attacks and were led by Milana Moisio with 19 digs. Following Claire Ammeraal’s 17 digs, Jaimie Marquardt helped in the back row with 12 digs of her own. Greta Schlichter also provided a defensive boost with her seven digs. Following the showing against the Wildcats, Moisio put together another solid match in the back row, digging 20 attacks against Minnesota. That marked the Waukegan, Illinois, native’s fifth 20+ dig game. Schlichter had a season-high 10 digs and Ammeraal used 10 digs to secure her 10th double-double of the season.
