IOWA CITY, Iowa – Five members of the University of Iowa women’s soccer team – Berkley Binggeli, Sofia Bush, Millie Greer, Kenzie Roling, and Abby Skiff – earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, it was announced Tuesday by the CSC.
Binggeli (Human Physiology), Bush (Biology), Greer (Environmental Policy & Planning), Roling (Event Management Certificate), and Skiff (Chemistry) were recognized as one the nation’s top collegiate athletes for performance in the classroom and on the pitch. To qualify for all-district recognition, each student-athlete must earn at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate athletic excellence while meeting a 90 percent game participation threshold.
Roling earned the honor for the third straight season. This past season the Waverly, Iowa native started in all 21 games totaling four goals and an assist. Her goal in the NCAA Tournament opening round match against South Dakota State pushed the Hawkeyes into the Round of 32 for the third straight year.
It marks the first Academic All-District Team for Binggeli, Bush, Greer, and Skiff.
Binggeli appeared in all 21 games netting four goals and earning one start. Skiff started in all 21 games netting two goals and dishing out a pair of assists.
Bush and Greer earn the honors after being named second team All-Big Ten this season. Bush started in 20 games scoring a goal and adding six assists. Greer started in every game for the Hawkeyes, leading the team with 1,827 minutes. The Scottsdale, Ariz. native scored three goals while anchoring the Hawkeye defense that posted 10 shutouts this season.
Bush and Greer were selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First, second, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Dec. 16.
