Ferrari Named B1G Freshman and Wrestler of the Week

University of Iowa freshman Angelo Ferrari has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week and Big Ten Freshman of the Week , it was announced Wednesday by the league office.

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa freshman Angelo Ferrari has been named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week and Big Ten Freshman of the Week , it was announced Wednesday by the league office.

The Melissa, Texas, native earned the distinction after defeating third-ranked Dustin Plott, 6-3, in sudden victory on Feb. 23 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. 

The Hawkeyes won the dual over the second-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, 21-16.

Ferrari is the third Hawkeye to earn Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honors this season (Kyle Parco on Jan. 9 and Drake Ayala on Jan. 23)

No. 2 Iowa returns to action on March 8-9 at the Big Ten Championships in Evanston, Illinois.
