Notes: Gymhawks Regular Season Finale at Minnesota

THIS WEEK
The 20th-ranked University of Iowa women’s gymnastics team heads to Minneapolis to close out the regular season for a quad meet against No. 13 Minnesota, Illinois and Northern Illinois on Sunday. Action inside Maturi Pavilion begins at 2 p.m.

    LAST TIME OUT
  • The GymHawks dominated the quad meet with a 196.500, defeating Central Michigan, Southeast Missouri and Northern Illinois.
  • Iowa secured an undefeated season (9-0) at home for the first time since 2022.
  • The Hawkeyes recorded a 49.375 on bars, tying for the fifth-best score in program history.
  • Sophomores Aurélie Tran and Sydney Turner notched two event titles each with career-high routines. Turner won vault (9.950) and beam (9.925) titles, while Tran earned bars (9.975) and all-around (39.600) titles.
  • Fifth-year JerQuavia Henderson posted a season-best 9.950, earning the floor title.
  • Tran’s 9.975 on bars tied the school record set by Alexis Maday in 2004.  
  • The GymHawks scored a season high on vault rotation with a 49.275. 

IN THE RANKINGS

  • Iowa enters the week as the 20th-ranked team in the nation with an NQS score of 196.444.
  • The Hawkeyes rank No. 11 on bars (49.241), No. 17 on vault (49.084) and No. 22 on floor (49.188).
  • Aurélie Tran ranks 11th nationally in the all-around (39.420) and fourth in the Big Ten. Tran also ranks 20th nationally and third in the conference on bars (9.910).
  • Sophie Schriever ranks 22nd nationally in the all-around (39.345) and eighth in the Big Ten. 

SCOUTING MINNESOTA

  • Minnesota enters the meet with a 9-4 overall record and 7-2 in Big Ten competition.
  • The Gophers rank No. 13 in the nation based on their NQS score of 196.834. Minnesota ranks No. 6 on beam (49.303), No. 17 on bars (49.153), No. 16 on vault (49.106) and No. 14 on floor (49.281).

SCOUTING ILLINOIS

  • Illinois enters the meet with a 4-12 overall record and 1-8 in the Big Ten competition.
  • The Illini set a season best on floor (49.150) in their last meet against Alabama. 

SCOUTING NORTHERN ILLINOIS 

  • Northern Illinois enters the meet with a 3-12 overall record and 0-6 in conference competition.
  • The Huskies set a season high on beam (48.400) in their last meet at the Iowa quad meet.

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS

O’ CANADA!

  • The Hawkeyes have three Canadians on the roster for 2026, including three 2024 Olympians in sophomores Aurélie Tran, Cassie Lee and Sydney Turner.
  • Tran leads the team with 14 event titles (5x all-around, 5x bars, 3x vault, and 1x beam).
  • After competing in the all-around at every meet, Tran earned Iowa’s female Student-Athlete of the Month for January.
  • Turner has six event titles (4x beam,1x floor and vault) and was tabbed a Big Ten Gymnast to Watch.

SHINING SCHRIEVER 

  • Sophie Schriever is the only freshman to compete in the all-around for the Hawkeyes, posting a career-high 39.475 (vs. Nebraska).
  • The newcomer has captured five titles (2x all-around, 1x on bars, beam and vault).

HOME SWEET CARVER

  • The Hawkeyes secured an undefeated season (9-0) at home for the first time since 2022.
  • Against Nebraska (2/7), the Hawkeyes set a new attendance record of 4,100. 
  • The GymHawks hosted every meet at Carver-Hawkeye Arena this season.

Q’S COMEBACK

  • JerQuavia Henderson returned to the lineup in 2026 after last competing in 2023.
  • Henderson has notched a total of five titles (2x floor, 1x on bars, vault and all-around).
  • Henderson was named a Big Ten Gymnast to Watch.
