IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa sophomore Ava Heiden and senior Hannah Stuelke were named Women’s Basketball Coaches Association All-America Finalists, the WBCA announced on Wednesday.
Heiden and Stuelke are 2-of-48 finalists for this season's 10-member WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches’ All-America team.
Heiden led Iowa with 17.4 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per games while shooting 64 percent from the floor this season. Her 64 percent from the floor is good for second in the Big Ten and third nationally. Heiden is the 10th player in program history to shoot 64 percent or better from the floor.
She also leads all power four players in points per game improvement over the last two seasons and is third nationally at +12.6 points per game. Over the last eight games, Heiden was 74-of-106 from the floor. (70 percent)
Heiden earned honorable mention All-America honors from the Associated Press and United States Basketball Writers Association earlier this week and was a First Team-All Big Ten selection this season.
In Stuelke’s final season with the Hawkeyes, she averaged 13.4 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per game which is good for fourth-most in the Big Ten. Her field goal percentage of 54 percent on the season ranks fifth-best in the conference. Stuelke also leads Iowa with 20 games of eight rebounds or more this year. She was also named Second Team All-Big Ten for the third time in her career earlier this month.
Heiden and Stuelke are tied for a team-leading nine double-doubles this season which is the most either one has had in a single season in their careers.
