IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa softball team fell to Purdue, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at Pearl Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Purdue struck first, taking a 2-0 lead with one run in each of the first two innings.
The Boilermakers added two more runs in the third inning to extend their advantage.
Purdue tacked on one run in both the fifth and sixth innings to push the lead to 6-0.
Iowa got on the board in the bottom of the sixth. After Kiara Sipe was hit by a pitch and Avery Jackson doubled, Devin Simon delivered a sacrifice fly to score Sipe. The Boilermakers recorded three quick outs in the seventh to secure the 6-1 win.

"We still have some things to work through but we'll be back at it tommorow." head coach, May-Johnson said. "We'll see how the cards fall but our mentaility coming into tommorow is to win and play on."
