Iowa’s first all-American swimmer (150 yard backstroke) in 1922; national age-group record holder in backstroke at age of 73; only man to follow Iowa’s competitive swim program throughout its 77 year history; for 30 years official bell ringer signaling start of Iowa’s home meets; and named in his honor the Irving B. Weber Walkway of Champions in Iowa Field House and Irving B. Weber Elementary school in Iowa City.
