World record holder of indoor three-mile run in 1982; member of six United States world cross country teams and world championship teams in 1984, 85; Iowa’s first ever women’s NCAA champion; NCAA champion in 10,000 meter run in 1985; NCAA runner-up in cross country in 1983; The Athletics Congress (TAC) national champion in 10,000 meter run in 1986 and 5,000 meter run in 1987; nine-time NCAA all-American; four-time Big Ten Conference champion; and named Iowa’s Woman Athlete of the Year in 1983 and Athlete of the Decade (1980-89).
