Salem, OR – The University of Iowa women’s cross country team placed seventh in a 19-team field Saturday at the Willamette Invitational. Iowa’s 193 team points trailed meet-winner and national power Marquette, who finished with 50 points.
Iowa’s Nikki Chapple led the Hawkeye attack by finishing the 5,000-meter race in 17:41. The freshman was competing in her first competition as a Hawkeye and finished 16th overall. Senior Georgia Millward was the only other Hawkeye to finish in the top 50. Freshman Shannon Stanley and junior Katie Donlon finished 51st and 52nd, respectively.
