FRANKLIN, IN – The University of Iowa women’s golf team shot a 54-hole total of 877 to finish in 12th place in the 18-team Shoot-out at the Legends tournament. Kent State fired a 917 to come away with the team title.
Leading the way for the Hawkeyes was freshman Virginie Bonfils who tied for 20th. Bonfils fired a three round total of 223 highlighted by a hole-in-one in her first round. Junior Shannon Fleming shot a 227 which was good enough to place her tied for 31st. Fleming’s three-round total included a career-best 73. Junior Liz Bennett tied for 60th with a score 235. Senior Laura Holmes carded a 238 which placed her tied for 69th. Freshman Karla Murra ended the tournament with a score of 244 which placed her 82nd.
Indiana’s Karen Dennison fired a three-under total of 213 to come away with the individual title. Missouri’s Denise Knaebel and TCU’s Brooke Tull both carded scores of 216 which were good enough for a tie for second.
