WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – The University of Iowa men’s swimming and diving team finished the Purdue Invitational in eighth place on Sunday. The Hawkeyes ended the three day tournament with a score of 589.50.
Diver Timo Klami finished third in the platform diving competition with a score of 401.40. Klami won the one and three-meter events earlier this weekend.
The Hawkeye relay team of Tomasz Dziedzic, Konrad Kazmierczak, Kevin Velleca, and Andrei Prada finished fourth in the 400 free-relay with a time of 3:04.52. Andrei Ciurca shaved almost three seconds from his preliminary time to finish fourth in the 200-back with a finals time of 1:49.62. Kazmierczak came up second in the 100-free with a time of 45.24. Another second place finish came out of Mariusz Muras in the 200-fly with a time of 1:48.04.
The men’s squad will travel Vermillion, SD on January 17 to compete against South Dakota and Truman State.
