What attracted you to the University of Iowa?
“The people here are so friendly and I loved the campus.”

What impresses you most about the coaching staff?
“It’s hard to pick one thing. Personally, I’ve clicked so well with the coaches here that I couldn’t pick a better place to come and grow as a player and person.”

What has been you biggest transition in playing tennis at the collegiate level?
“Learning how to win big points and also how to be the best teammate I can be.”

Schaechterle is coming off his first dual win as a Hawkeye with a 6-1, 3-6, (10-7) win over DePaul’s Radek Guzik.

What has been your favorite road trip?
“I would have to say the Fall ITA trip, when Parker and I took down Coach in Trivial Pursuit. That’s something we’ll never let him live down.”

If you compete against any professional tennis player, who would it be and why?
“John MacEnroe, just because I think he’s hilarious.”

Is there any player that you tend to pattern your game after?
“I like the way Mardy Fish plays and I’ve learned a lot from watching him.”

What has been your most memorable tennis moment?
“Competing at Big Ten singles.”

What do you do to prepare before or unwind after a match?
“I like to listen to The Strokes before I play to get pumped up.”

If you could guest star on any television show, what would it be any why?
“SportsCenter because that is the ultimate dream job for anyone who loves sports.”

What is the most embarrassing item of clothing you have ever owned?
“This yellow rain jacket my mom bought me when I was little that had a hood with a mane on it and ears so it was supposed to look like a lion.”
