IOWA CITY, IA – The Iowa men’s tennis team lost its second dual of the season in a 5-2 loss to Minnesota Sunday afternoon at the Recreation Building.

The Hawkeyes fell behind 1-0 after losing two of three doubles contests. Iowa’s win came in the No. 3 match where freshmen Jonny Hoak and Ryan Reid recorded a victory over Chris Wettengel and Andres Osorio (2-2, ret.).

Hoak and Reid carried their momentum into singles competition. Hoak recorded Iowa’s first point of the day with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Osorio in the No. 3 match. The win marked Hoak’s first career dual victory. Reid also recorded his first career dual victory with a 6-4, 3-6, (11-9) win over Sion Wilkins in the No. 6 match. In the No. 4 match, freshman Walter Valarezo recorded a 7-6 first-set victory over Brian Lipinski, but dropped the remaining sets (7-5, 6-1).
