The 20th-ranked Iowa GymHawks finished second at the North Central Regional with a score of 195.7, automatically qualifying the team for the NCAA Championships. This is the second year in a row that Iowa has gone to the championships.

The GymHawks came into regionals as a No. 4 seed. Iowa defeated No. 14 Denver and No. 11 Washington for the upsets.

Alexis Maday tied for second on bars (9.875), fifth on vault (9.85) and floor (9.85), and tied for third in the all-around (39.25). Freshman Danielle Legeai scored a career-high 9.9 to tie for second on beam. On bars, Annie Rue scored a 9.85 to finish tied for fifth while teammate Romina Mazzoni tied for seventh with a 9.825. Rue also tied for fourth on beam with a 9.875.

The GymHawks will compete at the NCAA Championships April 15 in Los Angeles, CA.
